Digital Rights Challenges
Well, we all knew it would happen eventually!
Apple are being challenged under a Class Action Suit which alleges that Apple is violating Antitrust laws and unfair competition laws by not allowing iTunes music to be played on MP3 players other than the iPod.
It is clear that this suit will win, so I suggest we all sign up under the Class Action Suit - esp those of us who have other MP3 players and therefore cannot play iTunes music!
What pushed MP3 music lovers over the edge, I believe, was Apple's recent move (one which we might have expected from Microsoft but not Apple!!) preventing Real's Harmony technology from working on iPods. This, again, was clearly anti-competitive, and got a lot of people's backs up.
Wouldn't it be great if iTunes was forced, by this action, to support those of us with Creative or Rio MP3 players - or even those of us with PDAs and PocketPCs?
If Audible.com can do it, why can't iTunes.com?

Get a Free iPod?
I was amazed to find out that people really are getting free iPods simply for referring a few friends and signing up for free trials (e.g. of eFax or of Video Professor training courses or of AOL or whatever). But it seems to be true, according to a Wired Magazine article.
Give it a try by clicking here. However, beware - cancel memberships after the free periods (or in the case of Video Professor, return any software you are not entitled to keep after the free trial period). Otherwise you may be charged for the "free trial" without realizing!
